Safety Specialist Responsibilities:
Identify hazards in the workplace. Inspect and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices for compliance with corporate and government safety standards and regulations.
Investigate accidents and incidents to identify their causes and future prevention.
Participate in the development and implementation of workplace safety procedures that assist workers in safety awareness.
Conduct training and presentations for safety matters and accident prevention.
Monitor and enforce policies and standards to establish a culture of health and safety.
Recommend solutions for workplace issues, improvement possibilities and new prevention measures.
Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
Communication able to communicate safety instructions and concerns to employees and managers; able to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel; able to react calmly and effectively.
Detail Oriented - recognize and adhere to specific safety standards and government regulations; gather data and prepare reports, via Outlook email, Microsoft Word/Excel/Notebook and Skype for Business.
Problem Solving investigate and analyze information to draw conclusions that will improve working conditions and environmental concerns.
Experience in OSHA 300, 301, 301a, job safety analysis (JSA), near miss recording procedures is preferred. CPR, first aid, AED certifications desired/willingness to obtain.
Drug free and criminal background checks are required.
Full time, M-F. In the event of incident investigation Safety Specialist must be flexible with schedule.
Physical Activity lifting, pushing, pulling objects up to 50 pounds; exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, unpleasant odors, and loud noises.
This position reports to the Corporate Safety Manager/Director.
