Now Hiring: Director of Self-Insurance – Government Agency Role | Columbia, SC
Pay Range: $38,900 – $55,000/yearFull Benefits Package + State Retirement Plan After Hire 
 GPS is currently seeking a Director of Self-Insurance for an immediate opportunity with a well-established government agency in Columbia, SC
In this critical role, you will evaluate self-insured entities for financial solvency, regulatory compliance, and effective claims practices—all while contributing to the mission of delivering a timely and equitable system for injured workers and employers. Why Apply?

 Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate and audit self-insured employers and funds to ensure compliance
  • Review financials, insurance coverages, surety requirements, and claims practices
  • Prepare detailed reports and present findings to the Commissioners
  • Conduct annual audits, quarterly reviews, and ongoing solvency monitoring
  • Supervise administrative staff supporting program functions
  • Recommend process improvements and regulation updates
 What We’re Looking For:
  • Associate degree and experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance/tax
  • A bachelor’s degree with multiple accounting courses may substitute for experience
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to interpret and apply SC Workers’ Compensation laws
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
 Preferred but not required:
  • South Carolina CPA license
  • Experience with OnBase or Progress systems
