GPS is currently seeking a Director of Self-Insurance for an immediate opportunity with a well-established government agency in Columbia, SC.
In this critical role, you will evaluate self-insured entities for financial solvency, regulatory compliance, and effective claims practices—all while contributing to the mission of delivering a timely and equitable system for injured workers and employers. Why Apply?

- Stable Monday–Friday schedule: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Opportunity for professional growth in accounting, insurance, or finance
- Evaluate and audit self-insured employers and funds to ensure compliance
- Review financials, insurance coverages, surety requirements, and claims practices
- Prepare detailed reports and present findings to the Commissioners
- Conduct annual audits, quarterly reviews, and ongoing solvency monitoring
- Supervise administrative staff supporting program functions
- Recommend process improvements and regulation updates
- Associate degree and experience in accounting, auditing, finance, insurance/tax
- A bachelor’s degree with multiple accounting courses may substitute for experience
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to interpret and apply SC Workers’ Compensation laws
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- South Carolina CPA license
- Experience with OnBase or Progress systems
